  • Induction Tour | All Saints Catholic College

Induction Tour Explore Year 7 Induction Tour We were terribly disappointed not to be able to welcome our incoming Year 7 students onto site for an induction day at the end of the last academic year. Sadly, due to social distancing measures and rising rates of Covid-19 in the borough, this was not possible. Instead, we've put together a welcome video from our Headteacher, Mr O'Neill and a virtual tour of the school from Mr McGovern to give you a flavour of what you can look forward to on 7th September 2021. This will be the first day of the new school year and we will be welcoming Year 7 students only. We look forward to meeting you then. If you have any questions in the meantime please contact us by emailing info@allsaintscc.org.uk and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

  • MFL | All Saints Catholic College

Educatio Mission Statement The Mission of the Modern Foreign Language Department is to expand students' horizons by teaching them other languages and introducing them to other cultures as well as to develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing in order to prepare them for any kind of language endeavour. Foreign language lessons give pupils the opportunity to develop their linguistic competence, extend their knowledge of how language works and explore the differences and similarities between French, Spanish and English. Students learn how language can be manipulated and applied in different ways, thus they express themselves with increasing confidence, independence and creativity. The development of communication skills, together with understanding of the structure of language, lay the foundations for future study of other languages and support the development of literacy skills in a pupil’s own language. Learning foreign languages raises awareness of the multilingual and multicultural world and introduces an international dimension to pupils’ learning, giving them an insight into their own culture and those of others. Languages are part of the cultural richness of our society and the world in which we live and work. Learning languages contributes to mutual understanding, a sense of global citizenship and personal fulfilment. Pupils learn to appreciate different countries, cultures, communities and people. The ability to understand and communicate in another language is a lifelong skill for education, employment and leisure in this country and throughout the world. Literacy Statement The Modern Foreign Languages Department provides opportunities to enhance the writing, reading and oral skills of students through lessons and assessments. Students who are literate in Modern Foreign Languages: use well-developed reading strategies, which are not language-specific; use strategies for learning vocabulary and spellings; use English phonology and grammar to support learning in a foreign language; identify adverbs; understand the terms ‘active’ and ‘passive’; identify pronouns; begin using the term ‘sentence’; use the term ‘verb’ appropriately; understand the term ‘tense’; use the terms ‘singular’ and ‘plural’ appropriately; use the term ‘adjective’ correctly; use the terms ‘vowel’ and ‘consonant’; identify the imperative form in instructional writing. Click below to view our French curriculum for each year group. Year 7 Year 8 Year 9 Year 10 Year 11 Click below to view our Spanish curriculum for each year group. Year 7 Year 8 Year 9 Year 10 Year 11 If you would like to find out more about the Modern Foreign Languages curriculum, contact our Head of MFL Ms Arana by emailing b.arana@allsaintscc.org.uk Modern Foreign Languages "Start by doing what's necessary, then what's possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible." • Educatio | All Saints Catholic College

Educatio Discover At All Saints we will endeavour to provide a high quality education for all students, especially for those who are poor and disadvantaged. The theology for education at All Saints stems from John 10:10, "I have come so that you may have life, life in all its fullness". With this in mind, we aim to provide an educational setting that provides a "fullness" in life for our students, which readily equips them for life beyond school, and a passion for life-long learning. Within the Gospel we constantly find examples of Jesus as the 'teacher', interpreting scriptures as well as providing clear guidance on day-to-day morality and also social justice (see Formatio and Iustitia Socialis). The book of Proverbs advocates the necessity of a strong education: "It is better - much better - to have wisdom and knowledge than gold and silver". Thro28 ugh hard work (Laborare) and support from teachers and parents we will endeavour to provide a strong education for all students in our care. Teachers at All Saints work in the service (Servire) of the students within their care. Taking the example of Jesus in Mark 10, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served; he came to serve and to give his life to redeem many people”, we recognise the importance of this passage in putting the needs of our own students first. Teachers at All Saints are characterised by having a steadfast service to the students in their care, going above and beyond the call of duty in order to serve. Our curriculum timings for each year group can be viewed here . Our curriculum is fully compliant with the Equality Act 2010 and Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014.
