Politics Week at All Saints

This week, All Saints celebrated a vibrant and engaging Politics Week, giving students the opportunity to explore how democracy works and take part in their own mock election.

Throughout the week, students took part in a range of activities designed to deepen their understanding of politics and participation. These included exploring the Welfare State through “Newsflash” activities, reading and debating political manifestos in form time, and attending assemblies led by our Year 10 Citizenship students.

A highlight of the week was the hustings event on Wednesday, where Year 10 students campaigned passionately, sharing their ideas, distributing materials, and encouraging their peers to get involved.

The week culminated in a whole-school election on Friday, where students from Years 7–10 voted in the Drama Studio. The event, organised and run by students, gave everyone the chance to experience the democratic process first-hand and reflect on their own views.

The results were shared at the end of the day, following a full count, creating a real sense of excitement and engagement across the school.

Politics Week was a fantastic opportunity for students to develop their understanding of democracy, debate important issues, and practise respectful discussion — well done to all involved!
