Why Music Technology Matters
Music Technology allows students to explore how music is created, recorded, and produced.
It combines creativity with technical skill, giving students the tools to compose, edit, and refine their own work.

At All Saints, Music Technology provides a practical and engaging route into music.
Students work with industry-standard software and equipment, developing both creative ideas and technical understanding.
The course supports students of all musical backgrounds, whether they are performers, producers, or completely new to music creation.
LEARNING
From Year 7 to GCSE
Students are introduced to music through Key Stage 3, where they develop listening, performance, and basic composition skills.
At Key Stage 4, Music Technology focuses on:
- Composition – creating original pieces using digital tools
- Production – recording, editing, and mixing music
- Listening – analysing different styles and genres
- Technology – understanding how music software and equipment are used

Instrumental lessons:
Students can learn a wide range of instruments through subsidised lessons during the school day, including:
- Voice, piano and guitar
- Strings, woodwind and brass
- Drums and percussion
Formal graded exams are also available.
