Overview
A school for singing
The All Saints Catholic College Schola Cantorum was established in April 2021 and debuted later that year at the Celebration Mass.
The phrase Schola Cantorum means “school for singing”. At All Saints, the Schola brings the Catholic choral tradition into the life of the school, helping students grow in musical skill, discipline, confidence and service.

Rooted in the Catholic choral tradition
The Schola Cantorum tradition traces its origins back to the early life of the Church. Historically associated with music for papal liturgies, it became an important model for cathedral and church choirs.
At All Saints, this tradition is lived in a contemporary school setting, giving students the opportunity to take part in music that serves prayer, worship and community life.
Formation
Commitment, discipline and excellence
Students in the Schola Cantorum are invited into a high level of commitment and musical formation.
Rehearsal and preparation
Schola students rehearse regularly, developing tuning, tempo, listening and ensemble skills.
Vocal development
Students receive singing support and are encouraged to grow in confidence and technique.
Service through music
The Schola supports worship and school celebrations, helping the community pray through music.
Opportunity

The Schola Cantorum gives students opportunities to perform, serve the school community and grow as young musicians.
The long-term hope is for the Schola to continue supporting Mass and liturgy, both in school and in the wider local community. The ambition is high: students are encouraged to develop the skills, confidence and discipline that could support future musical opportunities, including choral scholarships and further study.
