How to report a student's absence, including who to contact and what information to provide.

Report an absence

If your child is unable to attend school, please contact the school as soon as possible on the first day of absence.


Parents and carers are asked to report absence before 8:00 am and to contact the school on each day of absence.

What to tell us

When reporting an absence, please include:


  • Student’s full name
  • Year group
  • Reason for absence
  • Expected return date (if known)

If your child has a medical appointment during the school day, please inform the school in advance.


You may be asked to provide written evidence, such as appointment cards or letters.

Regular attendance is essential for learning and progress. Students who attend school consistently are more likely to achieve strong outcomes.


If your child is absent, we expect parents and carers to inform the school promptly. The school may follow up on unexplained absences.
