Thirty Year 9 pupils have returned from an unforgettable four-day visit to Rome, which staff described as one of the smoothest and most enjoyable trips to date. Blessed with warm sunshine throughout their stay, pupils experienced the Italian capital in temperatures reaching the mid-20s, while evening meals at the popular Ristorante Taverna Manzoni proved a particular highlight.
Accompanied by Ms Harper, Ms Offord and Mr Narisetti, pupils enjoyed a packed itinerary that brought history and culture to life. Highlights included visits to the Vatican Museums and St Peter's Basilica, a guided tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, as well as some of Rome's most famous landmarks, including the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Pantheon. The trip concluded with a fascinating visit to the Catacombs of San Sebastiano before the group travelled home.
Staff reported that the glorious weather and delicious food were among the most talked-about aspects of the trip, with traditional dishes such as amatriciana pasta and roast pork receiving particularly favourable reviews from pupils.
Most importantly, all thirty pupils were excellent ambassadors for the school. Their behaviour, enthusiasm and maturity throughout the visit were exemplary, and staff were delighted with the way they supported one another and embraced every opportunity the trip offered.
