Year 11 Food Tech & Drama Students Inspired by After Sunday at the Bush Theatre

Yesterday, our Year 11 Food Technology and Drama students attended a performance of After Sunday at the Bush Theatre — and enjoyed it immensely.

The play, written by Sophia Griffin, is set in a medium-security hospital where occupational therapist Naomi runs a Caribbean cooking group for three men in her care. Through live cooking on stage, the sessions gradually uncover the men’s identities, memories and past traumas. Food becomes a powerful tool for connection, storytelling and healing.

Students were particularly struck by the sensory experience of real cooking happening during the performance, as well as the emotional depth created through the characters’ shared histories. Both departments found it an inspiring example of how food, theatre and storytelling can work together to explore complex themes.
