From Classroom to Clinic: Students Explore Medical Innovation
Students Explore Life-Saving Medical Technology at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals

Students from All Saints Catholic College recently visited Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals to take part in the Medtronic ECMOmobile Workshop, gaining a fascinating insight into cutting-edge healthcare and life-saving medical technology.
During the workshop, students learned about ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), a specialist treatment used to support patients with severe heart and lung conditions. Through hands-on activities, demonstrations and discussions with healthcare professionals, students discovered how advanced medical technology can be used to save lives in critical situations.
The visit provided a unique opportunity to explore careers in medicine, nursing, biomedical engineering and healthcare technology. Students were able to engage directly with experts, learn about the importance of teamwork within hospitals and gain a deeper understanding of how innovation is transforming patient care.
Experiences such as this help to bring classroom learning to life while inspiring young people to consider future careers in STEM and healthcare. We are extremely grateful to the teams at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals and Medtronic for providing such an informative and inspiring workshop.
